I Got Me A Case of Spring Fever

The weather here in Florida has been so beautiful, cool in the mornings and warm in the afternoons. The robins are here in full force enjoying the berries on the huge tree in my backyard. So, ya know what that does to me...SPRING FEVER!!! It's kinda like a wherewolf with a full moon a rising...grrr...

So, once again, I decided to try a new project. I wanted a wreath that would light up my front porch. Back to Hobby Lobby...the wreath was $3, the strands of roses $5 each, the small flowers $3 each and the beaded piece was $5. I already had the string of lights. I cut the floral elements into smaller pieces so that I would have easier pieces to work with. Having never made a wreath before, I really had no idea what I was doing. Here's what I came up with.

This is the wreath with the lights and roses in place...once again I forgot to take a picture before I started...duh...those lights were a pain to weave in and out of that grapevine wreath...

Then I intermingled and entwined the smaller flowers and beaded pieces, here's a closeup...

Of course I had to have a bow...

Here's the finished product above my house numbers...

And the final picture taken at night...

I was pleasantly surprised with how well it lights up my front porch. Just underneath my house numbers is a fountain. Can't tell you how many times I stuck my boobs and belly into it getting it hung just right. What do ya'll think?

My Adventure Into Metals

Well first off, ya'll will be happy to know my slug fest is over. Still playing catch up but finally making some progress.

Everyone who knows me knows I luv angels. Maybe it stems from my Catholic faith, but I truly believe in their presence. As I mentioned last week, I ordered some metal angel wings from http://www.decorsteals.com Here is a photo of the back side as I forgot to take a picture of the front...

When I purchased them I knew I wanted some type of metal sheen to the wings. So I went to my fav store, Hobby Lobby, and bought deep bronze, black and white metallic craft paints. Here's a photo of the bronze color on another project...teaser for Kim...as I once again forgot to take a photo...

I wanted to tone down the color, so I decided to do a white metallic wash to add sheen and mute the color a bit. I did remember to take a photo of this part...amazing...isn't it...

I wanted to add a little definition, so then I did a black metallic wash...

I was finally pleased with the look. Ya'll know I luv bling and I wanted to add an elegant touch. So I topped it off with a beautiful brooch from http://www.etsy.com/shop//TheButtonSmith Here's pics of a close up of the brooch which also shows the color of the wings beautifully and the finished project...

So what do you all think??? Would luv to hear your comments...I think...

Laid Back Weekend

As I was sitting here sipping my first cup of joe (one of my favorite times of the day)...with my son and 2 of my pups...diva dog didn't want to join us, I got to thinking of what I had to blog about. Hmmm...not really much happening. No big projects accomplished, certainly no cleaning done, just pretty much a slug. Maybe my title should have been Slug Back Weekend, hahaha!

But I have addressed some issues. Finally got that pesky Christmas tree down...found something I hate more that putting up the tree...taking it down, ugh. My brother came over to help me pack the tree up. He crammed it in the box and then dropped the box twice. Anybody wanna bet on if that tree's gonna work next year??? Got everything packed away, furniture rearranged. So now my household is back in order...well kinda, back to the slug thing.

I have been working on some metal distressed angel wings I bought from Decor Steals. Wonderful site with daily specials. Lots of shabby chic, country, distressed type items. I'll send anyone an invitation that's interested in checking them out, http://www.decorsteals.com. Plus it will get me a $5 credit...woo hoo... I'll be posting this project next week with pictures. Ordered some rhinestone brooches for a special accent and talk about gorgeous for a great price. This shop also has beautiful rhinestone buttons for all you knitters, sewers (not the biohazard type sewers) and crocheters. Check out this great shop, you won't be disappointed.

Also been working on a small metal tiara I purchased from Decor Steals...sweet...coming next week or the next.

Have been working on my blog site too, adding tabs etc. Not finished yet, so bear with me.

I have been totally ignoring my etsy shop...not a good thing I know. But sometimes ya just need a break to recharge your battery. So come on...take a laid back (slug back) weekend like me!
